Fun Friday Photos 7.3.09 | Dallas Girls Down on the Mississppi FarmJuly 03, 2009"Howdy" from Mississippi!
While the Princess and I were home last week we had so much fun at "Mrs. Nancy's Farm". My Aunt's childhood friend Nancy has a "farm" of geriatric animals. Several of them are so docile you can pet them. The photo above is of the Donkey. He is a sweet ole gent who was fun to feed. He lifts his nose up and makes this face to get petted.
Have you ever petted a peacock? I'll bet you have not... well the Princess and I have now. As well as our cousin M, who joined us at the farm. Here are the girls sitting by Mrs. Nancy learning how to allow Happy, the peacock to approach. The girls were pretty patient and waited their turns to get to pet Happy.
Here is the Princess, down on Happy's level petting him on the head. Happy was a GREAT sport!
Here is Cousin M's cute little polished fingernails as she gives Happy a gentle little rub.
Happy is a beautiful fellow. He hatched the week of Katrina, so he must be one tough guy as well!
We were also able to pet Lambie. What a sweet girl. Lambie loves kiddos and is very gentle. I think she is over fifteen years old.
Did you know that peacocks roost in trees? It certainly makes sense, being a bird and all, but most of the peacocks I have seen were at the zoo, and did not have trees to roost in. It was a bit weird to be walking under trees with gorgeous, giant birds above you.
Our morning at the Farm was hot, but fun. We saw turkeys, chickens and other fun animals. The Princess and Cousin M even got to take a fun golf cart ride through the forest. (Mimi, Aunt MD, and I retired to the house for some air conditioned rest!) Mrs. Nancy shared lessons about leaves and tress that the Princess is still talking about!
Thank you Mrs, Nancy for allowing us to visit, and thanks Aunt MD for making the arrangements. What a fun day down on the farm for two "city" girls!4:12 PM
