Tonight at the close of the monthly Dallas Professional Photographers Assoc. meeting, our speaker Skip Cohen commented, "If you are not having fun doing what you are doing, then do something else."

As I rode home those words really stuck with me. I love what I do. I love chasing kiddos around to capture that magical smile, that impish grin, or even the perfect little pout. It is great fun to get in the grass to capture a happy family moment to cherish forever. I have so much fun when working with clients, but lately in my "real" life, fun has been much harder to find. Good old fashioned fun has certainly taken a backseat to piles and piles of laundry, ( I forgot just how much laundry a baby creates!) loads of dishes, stacks of papers, mountains of toys, constant dusting, the sound of the vacuum and crayons spread from one end of the house to the other. I thought to myself, "Where has all the fun gone?"

It was not so long ago that the Princess and I would fill the sidewalk with chalk drawings, bake cookies, make paper mache fish and all other sorts of messy things. Now, I know I just had a baby a few months back, but I can't really blame him for the loss of fun at my house. No, I am the one to take all the blame.

As I turned off Hwy 75 onto the George Bush Tollway, I had the best idea on how to add some fun back into my life, and encourage you to do the same. I am going to hold a monthly contest! For the next three months I challenge you to create a really fun (the messier the better) time at your house. For at least the next three months, post a photo of your family enjoying a crazy fun moment to my Facebook Fan Page wall at least once a month and be entered to win a FREE Photo Session as well as a free 11x14.

For some of my friends and clients like Ginny and Debbie this is going to be a breeze. Fun and silliness are practically your middle names. For others this could be bit more of a challenge. Let's do this together. Let's start a FUN REVOLUTION! Think of all the FUN ideas we will be sharing with one another.

Sure, I want a clean home as much as the next gal, but do my children really care if the laundry sits unfolded on the sofa for a few more hours? Will they remember how clean and neat the playroom was? No they will remember the moments of silly, goofy, sometimes messy FUN!

I am going to trust you to be honest and only post new photos of your family having a great time. Your name will be added to my master FUN list for each new photo you post. (please only one photo per fun event) If you blog about the FUN REVOLUTION on your personal blog, please link back to this blog post or to the Facebook page, and if you send me an email to let me know you posted, I'll add your name to the list again. Don't feel left out if you don't have kiddos to play with! Take photos of you and the hubby having a Marshmallow war or if your dog is like ours, go outside and let him chase water from the hose for a little while. You don't have to be a large family to have fun (or to win the session). I love taking photos of pets, singles, or even a hip group of friends, there are so many ways to have FUN.
