Fun for the 4thJune 29, 2010We started celebrating the 4th of July early this year with our Playgroup Party today. What better excuse for a day of crafts and cupcakes. Our hostess had lots of both! She made these darling cupcakes. Don't you just love these cupcake toppers ?
I had fun over the last two days creating this Jello Trifle. I am in LOVE with the star shaped marshmallows, but an exhaustive search of area grocery stores has led to us only finding one more bag! The top blue layer just did not show up well in photos.
It was super easy to make with four small boxes of Jello. The only trick was to do the middle red layer at two different times. First I arranged the marshmallow stars around the outside, and filled the middle with more marshmallows, and then gently poured some strawberry Jello only about one-fourth the way up the stars. Once that layer was set, I no longer had to worry about the stars floating up, and finished the layer with a second box of strawberry jello. All in all a really fun and easy summer dessert.
Debbie made these great star shaped Rice Krispies treats.
They went very quickly, even before the "real" food was out of the oven. Little hands kept sneaking over to the table and grabbing them!
I have seriously fallen in LOVE with this style of cupcake toppers, and I promise that you will be seeing lots more of these on the blog in the weeks to come. I am currently creating my own designs for upcoming events in our little world.
The girls all sat patiently and created crowns / hats make of paper stars. The boys, not so much. They were busy doing more boyish things.
My little boy was "eating" the only kind of cookie a seven month old is allowed to have, the play kind.
Everything was so yummy and there was a lot of finger licking going on.
Everyone had a great time, too good of a time in fact. My Princess did not want to leave. In the car on the way home she said, "I wanted to stay at Mrs. Debbie's house forever." What a hard lesson to learn so early on in life, but all good things must come to an end. Today was definitely one of those good things in life.
