Diaper Cake and ClotheslineOctober 25, 2008Who doesn't love a party? I am totally addicted to throwing a soirée. There are few things I love more than hauling out my beautiful wedding gifts and putting them to good use. I dare say, my crystal bowls have seen some fun parties in the last eight years. If the pewter could talk, well the stories it would tell. When my husband was in grad school, I would deliver his dinner on one of our china plates. Some how it made a late meal in front of a computer feel more special.
This weekend I had the honor of playing host home to a lovely shower we gave for my friend J. Who is she you ask? Well of course I had to include photos of her crazy quick and fun maternity shoot.
She is so much fun to photograph. She does not mind laying on the ground in back of a building for a shot. Every photographer adores someone who is willing to try out our most unusual request.
Four amazing ladies were also hostesses and they worked so hard to make J's shower a grand success. It was so fun to have my house filled with little pink things again. We all marveled at how small newborn outfits are. The Princess is so cute and small, but seeing the newborn stuff reminded me of just how quickly my little one is growing.
The
diaper cake we made was pretty easy and fun to do. We used 3 packs of pampers wipes and a baby bottle as our core. I was really pleased with how it turned out. C did most of the gathering of cute and fun items to use as "icing" on the cake.
We also hung clothesline around the room and used clothes pins to hang lots of cute outfits and baby onsies on. J looked radiant, (can you believe this beauty has only 6 weeks to go?) and I hope she enjoys her gifts as much as we enjoyed throwing the shower for her.
Life is fleeting, so pull out the good stuff, dust it off and make today a special day. Don't just save it for a special occasion, make each day the special occasion you have been waiting for.
